The Sennheiser EW-DX EM 2 Dante (R1-9) is a professional two-channel digital wireless receiver designed for corporate, broadcast, touring, and installed sound applications requiring networked audio and secure transmission. Housed in a rugged half-rack (9.5") metal chassis, it delivers powerful performance with up to 88 MHz switching bandwidth, ensuring flexibility in complex RF environments. Powered by Sennheiser’s proprietary Performance Audio Codec (SePAC), the receiver achieves ultra-low latency of 1.9 ms and an impressive 142 dB input dynamic range, eliminating the need for gain adjustments on wireless transmitters while preserving full audio detail.

The EW-DX EM 2 Dante supports equidistant channel spacing for simplified frequency coordination, offering Standard Mode with 600 kHz spacing for up to 146 channels and Link Density (LD) Mode with 300 kHz spacing for up to 293 channels. Its AutoScan feature quickly analyzes the RF environment and deploys clean, intermodulation-free frequencies, even for users without advanced RF knowledge. A dedicated Link Quality Indicator (LQI) provides clear insight into connection stability, separate from RF level meters, enhancing operational confidence.

Designed for advanced networking, the receiver offers flexible network configurations including single cable mode (Control, Dante®, and PoE), split mode (Control + PoE and Dante® daisy chain), and redundancy mode (Control + PoE, Dante® Primary, Dante® Secondary). It supports Power over Ethernet (PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 3), as well as Ethernet connectivity via IPv4 and IPv6. AES-256 encryption and Dante Media Encryption provide maximum protection against signal interception. The system integrates seamlessly with SoundBase software, Sennheiser Control Cockpit, Wireless System Manager, and third-party control platforms via plug-ins, enabling comprehensive monitoring and remote control.

Operation is streamlined through a clear OLED display with jog wheel navigation and dedicated control buttons, along with a selective front-panel headphone output featuring volume control. Extended menu options include custom frequency lists, selectable sync parameters, and walk test functionality. Remote control is available via the Smart Assist App over Bluetooth® Low Energy at distances up to 25 meters.
